Hey, thanks for figuring all this out and answering so many posts. Reading about everybody's problems and successes led me to keep trying things, and finally I'm back in service.

My Broadband2Go GUI started saying Device Not Detected even with the USB stick in place and the light green. I uninstalled & reinstalled twice, rebooting in between but no luck. The weird thing was Windows kept saying "found new hardware" but wouldn't successfully install from the web, from the Novatel driver set, from your zip posted on Google docs, or anywhere. As soon as I'd give it a driver location and "Finish" it would pop up with another "Found New Hardware" wizard.

Eventually, I just stupidly kept pointing it at the same path, C:\Program Files\Novatel Wireless\Virgin Mobile\Drivers, and after going through the wizard 3 full times, it worked.

I too like the Virgin Mobile device very well...when it works!

Wow. Thanks for the link to the drivers. I just bought the USB MC 740 Modem Optimus from Virgin Mobile. I had some problems with speed … uninstalled all the drivers thinking that was the problem and now the software won't install when I plug the thing in.

this is how I fixed it. uninstall any virus, maleware, or any other monitoring program that might watch ur usb ports. Make sure your .net framework is updated through the windows site. Kill all process that are not system processes. make sure you followed all other instructions on this site. You might get lucky. Those are the steps I took. It was either a problem of the install package not being able to call up the .msi files or there was a sharing problem at the usb port.

First computer that give me this problem - never solved. Second one I uninstalled the software (dumb) so I could re-install thinking I would fix the connection issues. Then I get this message of death. There is no way to fix this problem!!

Hello, I bought this device and have had all the trouble others have had and even replaced the first device thinking that was the problem. But every time I try to install the device or run uninstallers for the drivers that I unzipped for it, I get a message from windows saying something about Windows Installer not working and a script for it being missing. I have spent all day updating windows and NOTHING WORKS! Windows Vista.. HELP!!!!

It installed on the laptop that DOESN'T belong to me, but not on the desk top that DOES.

It has been a long time since I played with this... But cannot remember errors like you describe. I'd start from scratch - this is the only suggestion that comes to my mind.

Clean up your computer (remove the old drivers etc).
Make sure the default system locale is US-English
Download the drivers from the link provided.
Install.
Reboot.
Plug your modem.

i am so sorry for having to add to this but HELLLLLPPPPP!!! I tried all of the these steps and now i get the "data interface" errors. Windows cannot find the required software for your data interface. Novatel drivers load fine. the virgin one closes claiming due to a failed or cancelled download. when attempting the regular virgin mobile driver load i get a VC90 software error.

What happened? Everything has been working fine for months and all of a sudden a disaster. I can't get it to work on any of my computers that used to be working fine before. Calling tech support is a waste of time. Any ideas? I wish I could call Virgin at least to ask for my money back and to complain about their total lack of respect for theirs customers.
