User Experience

After the extremely successful Bluetooth World event, I'm on the way to China to discuss the manufacturing details with our CMs. It is a joy being able to push the envelope on the design front (new form factors and functions) and then carving the real product in high volumes.

At Bluetooth World we launched Silvair, which I blogged on briefly last week. Our booth was filled with our partner's products with our technology inside. It shapes to be very complete from the start and offers great benefits to all member companies, as the products from different vendors are compatible with each other by design and offer huge up-sell opportunities.

But the biggest announcement has been the launch of the Silvair Control. The product has been in development for more than a year and is based on our thorough research we've been doing since the company was founded. Two years ago we joined forces with Design Partners to create a complete line of next generation smart products and the Control is the crown jewel we are so proud of.

In a nutshell our R&D, while related to low power wireless technologies, is mostly about the User Experience. "Live in the future and build what's missing" is our principle. Every day we imagine how the spaces around us will interact with people and how the emerging technologies can be used to deliver the best possible user experience.

I was so happy to hear the confirmations of the UX - centric strategy by the keynote speakers at the Bluetooth World, including Google's (ex Frog) Scott Jenson. Scott was pitching the Google Physical Web concept, which I personally love, especially as every Silvair product has the Physical Web beacon built in.

It really looks like the overall user experience of interaction with smart spaces around us via Bluetooth Mesh clicks into place. The user - centric smart home with ambient assistance and contextual anticipation is coming!

And last but not least: PROXI modules have started hitting the store shelves, available today at TIM.pl and (I'm hearing) going to Amazon soon! Also our friends from Germany - you may want to have a look inside the latest c't magazine (2015 Heft 10) for a complete Bluetooth Smart Home writeup by Nico Jurran.
